AXIS GRAFIX SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES FOR WRITERS
What AXIS is looking for in the way of writing is not just another story, but
rather a message within a story. AXIS Grafix is a ministry which uses comics
and the super-hero medium to minister the truth and love of Jesus Christ! Our
style of story telling is super-hero/sci-fi parables; the story is meant to
represent a Gospel truth.
A Writer’s submission must include:
1. A script for an eight (8) page super-hero/sci-fi story.
It should have action, character development, and clear story telling techniques.
It does not have to have religious themes within the story itself (in fact we
would prefer if it does not), but it should illustrate a message (like man’s
struggle against temptation, using our faith, turning our sins over to the Lord,
… any theme that will minister the truth of Jesus Christ and not JUST a
good, moral message). The story can have spiritual elements represented in the
story (like a pastor that gives advice, or a church where the hero attends,
or perhaps someone reading a bible, etc…). We do NOT want a story where
our hero is explaining the grace of God to little Timmy in the climax of the
battle scene, or to have our hero fighting a demon of drunkenness or something.
The stories should stand on their own as just good stories. But everything IN
the story should have a meaning (similar to C.S. Lewis). Please number the pages.
A one page explanation of the story should be written
out in clear, concise detail. In AXIS books there will always be a page at the
end of every issue explaining what the story is supposed to mean (“the
fight between Captain Cool and the Swamp Snake is like our struggle with temptation…”
“The disease that spread through the town is just like sin. It spreads
and gets stronger if we don’t allow the anecdote, Jesus, to enter into
our hearts…”). This should be able to fill about _ of a comic page
(approximately 500 words).
IMPORTANT:
AXIS Grafix is a Christian comic book ministry. We ask that you please do not
send submissions which include sexuality, nudity, obscene language or extreme
gore.
A writer’s submission should also include a cover letter which introduces
the writer and provides their name, address, city, state, zip, phone numbers,
E-mail address and any other forms of contact.

BE PRINTED ON 8 .5” X 11” PAPER AND MAILED TO:
