AXIS GRAFIX SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES FOR INKERS
A skilled inker is a VERY valuable asset to AXIS Grafix. An inker can make or break a pencilers hard work. AXIS inkers must posses all the skills and abilities of our pencilers and more. We need inkers who dont just trace the pencil drawings, but in fact redraw the pencils in ink. We expect our inkers to be highly skilled in spotting blacks on a page; creating clear separation among the drawn objects (never relying on color); providing a sense of depth and distinction within the foreground, middleground and background; using variations in line thickness to add weight, volume and shading; rendering different line patterns (cross hatching, stipple, feathering, etcÖ) to create varying degrees of gray. AXIS inkers are also very professional. They present their work clean, orderly and always by the deadline.
An Inkers submission must include:
1. Five (5) to eight (8) pages of fully inked SEQUENTIAL art. These pages
should be inked over real pencils or copies of pencils, but should not be done
over someone elses inks. The pencil pages used should be drawn with a high degree
of skill so as not to reflect poorly on the submitted inks. Please choose your
pencils well. If you need some pencil samples, visit our web site at axisgrafix.com
and print out a page, light box it and ink it.
2. Copies of the pencil pages which were inked for submissions. Each
inked sample should have the pencil copy the same size as the inked page and
stapled behind it.
IMPORTANT:
AXIS Grafix is a Christian comic book ministry. We ask that you please do not
send submissions which include sexuality, nudity, or extreme gore.
An inkers submission should also include a cover letter which introduces the
inker and provides their name, address, city, state, zip, phone numbers, E-mail
address and any other forms of contact.
ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE PRINTED ON 8.5 X 11 or 11 X 17 PAPER AND MAILED TO:

Please also include a self addressed stamped envelope for a timely response.
AXIS Grafix will not return submissions!
