D.E.D.Lev: 1

Concept and Characters created by Chuck Von Schaaf
Synopsis written by Ben Avery

Visitors from a far off galaxy, the five Winstrong brothers must now defend Earth, their new home, against an enemy shrouded in secrecy and lies -- the evil Chul'Rah and his army of followers. D.E.D.Lev: 1. It stood for Danger Extreme Deviance Level 1. Only five criminals in the history of the Enforcer Guard had ever received this designation. Only one of those five was still living. Chul'Rah. Once a trusted member of the Guard, he and his best friend Dank Winstrong grew to be legends in the Guard.

But Chul'Rah wanted more.

He rebelled against the Guard and against his friend, taking a third of the Enforcer Guard with him in a desperate attempt to wrest control of the Enforcer Guard and the Galactic Union. The resulting conflict was bloody, with heavy casualties on every side, but Danyk Winstrong and the Enforcer Guard were victorious. Chul'Rah and the other traitors were imprisoned to await sentencing. Their sentencing never happened. Chul'Rah and his followers promptly escaped, now joined by the other criminals from the maximum-security prison and renegades from around the galaxy. Chul'Rah had more than just escape on his mind. He also wanted revenge. He found Danyk Winstrong and, after a short struggle, left Danyk and Danyk's five sons for dead. Before Danyk died, however, he was able to save his sons by transforming his sons at a molecular level, endowing them with incredible powers. Muzz, Drex, Janoth, Finnimur, and Hauf were given new lives, new abilities, and completely new bodies. They resolved to use their powers to avenge their father.

The five brothers led the Enforcer fleet to Chul'Rah and his awaiting fleet of escaped criminals and renegades. Chul'Rah, knowing he had no way of defeating the entire Enforcer Guard fleet, fled into a quickly closing wormhole.

The Winstrong brothers did not know where the wormhole would lead them or if they could even return home when the wormhole closed, but after their father died they vowed to stop Chul'Rah from harming anyone else and, one way or another, bring Chul'Rah to justice. They piloted their ship, the Strong-arm, into the breach, following Chul'Rah. They followed him alone. The rest of the fleet stayed behind, satisfied that Chul'Rah was no longer their problem. The Winstrongs found themselves in a strange new galaxy. They followed Chul'rah's fleet to a tiny blue and green planet populated by a moderately technologically advanced species of bipeds. A planet called Earth . . .

The Winstrongs character profile:

Their father, Danyk Winstrong, was the greatest hero the Enforcer Guard had ever known. But now he was dead -- killed at the hands of Chul'Rah, a criminally insane D.E.D.Lev: 1. Chul'Rah intended to kill the Winstrong brothers as well, but Danyk, in his final moments of life, was able to save his sons by transforming their very body chemistry, giving them the power to control their bodies at a molecular level. Power that they determined to use to find Chul'Rah and bring him to justice.

Muzz character profile:

The oldest of Danyk Winstrong's sons, the charismatic Muzz was a rising star in the Enforcer Guard before his father's death. Now, gifted with the ability to alter the molecular structure of his body into any substance, he leads his brothers in their quest to bring Chul'Rah to justice.

Drex character profile:

Danyk's genius son Drex, the second born, was also a member of the Guard -- an invaluable resource to their research and development section. A cripple since birth and confined to a clumsy exoskeleton body suit that allowed him to move around, after the transformation Drex's blood was able to integrate with inorganic metal, allowing him to control his exoskeleton like it was a part of his body and assimilate other technology into his body suit. Now he stands with his brothers in their battle against Chul'Rah.

Janoth character profile:

Brash, impulsive, and intense, Janoth, along with his twin Finnimur, was a new recruit in the Enforcer Guard when Chul'Rah escaped and killed his father. He found himself endowed with membranous wings on his arms and the ability to change his body mass at will after the transformation. One moment, he may be as light as a feather, gliding above the clouds, the next he could be a 1000-pound missile speeding to the earth . . . He is driven by a burning rage against Chul'Rah and constantly butts heads with his oldest brother because of his one track mind.

Finnimur character profile:

Janoth's twin, Finnimur could not be more different from his brother. Thoughtful and caring, he also was a new recruit in the Guard. The transformation brought on by his father gave him incredible speed and endurance. Sometimes, it seems as if he is the only one who can keep his twin brother in check.

Hauf character profile:

Towering over his older brothers, the youngest Winstrong, Hauf, is the "strong and silent" type. Strong -- the transformation gave him unbelievable brute strength. Silent -- Hauf is a mute, although whether he is unwilling or unable to speak is a mystery buried beneath his think hide.

Chul'Rah character profile:

Shrouded in secrecy and lies, the unseen master of the alien visitors manipulates both his own people and the human bureaucracies to suit his own evil designs. His singular goal -- power. In his native galaxy, Danyk Winstrong, the Enforcer Guard, and the Security Council opposed him and his followers at every turn. Now, on earth, only the five Winstrong sons know who and what Chul'Rah really is. But if Chul'Rah has his way, that won't matter much longer, because the only thing he covets more than power is Danyk Winstrong's sons . . . dead.

Alexis character profile:

Life in high school was hard enough already. Throw in five alien fugitives who need both a place to hide and somebody who can help them understand this world and it makes life seem almost impossible. Fortunately, Alexis is up to the task and, with the help of her father, she'll do whatever she can to help her new friends -- the Winstrong brothers.
